Family Limited Partnerships (FLP)
A Family Limited Partnership is a type of limited partnership that allows family members to consolidate assets into a single entity to allow efficient management of those assets. An FLP allows family members to avoid trnasfer taxes by taking advantage of lower tax rates and gift tax exemptions when transferring assets to other family members across generations. It also is an effective way of keeping certain assets within the family and protecting assets from creditors.
